My Daughter sent me a birthday present a while back. \u00a0It is supposed to double as an Anniversary Present. \u00a0Seeing as my wedding anniversary is coming up in a week, it is front and foremost in my mind again. \u00a0And in the garage.<\/p>\n
No~it is NOT a car. \u00a0It is a Tandem Bike. \u00a0A two seater bicycle. \u00a0Awesome!<\/p>\n
When we received the Tandem, my daughter made me promise to sing (and sing loudly) on our first trip around the neighborhood the song “Daisy, Daisy…”. \u00a0So, we assembled the bicycle and headed off with me belting out that song. \u00a0My husband was Not Impressed with my singing but a promise IS a promise, so I sang.<\/p>\n
“Daisy, Daisy give me your answer do.
\nI’m half crazy all for the love of you.
\nIt won’t be a stylish marriage,
\nI can’t afford a carriage.
\nBut you’ll look sweet,
\nUpon the seat,
\nOf a bicycle made for two”.<\/p>\n
It is an awesome bike! \u00a0It is a traffic stopper for sure. \u00a0People slow down and crane their necks to watch us go by. \u00a0It is amusing. \u00a0Our little neighbor boy said it best…”Mama Look!!! \u00a0That be a two people bike!”.<\/p>\n
Yup. \u00a0We are the talk of the neighborhood.<\/p>\n
Seeing as we are from Colorado and NOT Mississippi (well, we have lived in Mississippi almost 4 years now) the neighbors\u00a0tolerate our “Western ways”. \u00a0We are a novelty. \u00a0And the bike just adds to our uniqueness.<\/p>\n
I don’t sing anymore. \u00a0There is only so much the neighbors can handle of our “Western ways” and we don’t push the envelope too far. \u00a0So, today, when we go for our bike ride, I will be humming contentedly to myself…
