Today’s Run: \u00a050 min lifting at the “Y”<\/p>\n

I am a beekeeper. \u00a0I have five bee hives in my Apiary. \u00a0Two of those hives are “grouchy”. \u00a0I do not know if they are AB (africanized bees) but they do make it a challenge to extract honey and to check on their progress.<\/p>\n

When my husband and I go out to work with the bees, we “suit up”. \u00a0Two pairs of jeans. \u00a0Two long sleeved shirts. \u00a0Boots. \u00a0Bee suit, hat, veil and leather gloves. \u00a0We feel invincible! \u00a0But with those grouchy hives, we have learned that we are not.<\/p>\n

Our bee suits came with heavy canvas hats and mesh veils. \u00a0The veils work great but the hats? \u00a0Well, I keep getting stung through mine, so this Spring I invested in a pith helmet and flowing veil. \u00a0It is great! \u00a0The attacking bees go, “Ping! \u00a0Ping! \u00a0Ping!” off of the helmet and no stings! \u00a0I am very pleased with this. \u00a0The only thing that keeps me from being 100% satisfied with this new chapeau is my husband thinks I look like “The Flying Nun”.<\/p>\n

“The Flying Nun” was a television show that was on when I was a\u00a0little\u00a0girl. \u00a0Way back in the 1960’s. \u00a0I think it went off the air in 1970? \u00a0Don’t quote me on that. \u00a0It starred Sally Field and I loved watching her float through the air and get into all kinds of\u00a0mischief.<\/p>\n
