{"id":1332,"date":"2013-03-26T14:30:10","date_gmt":"2013-03-26T19:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1332"},"modified":"2013-03-26T14:30:10","modified_gmt":"2013-03-26T19:30:10","slug":"not-muchyou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1332","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Not Much~You&#8221;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a055 min lifting at the &#8220;Y&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We enjoy listening to Public Radio. \u00a0Or at least we used to. \u00a0We are finding that the list of favorite shows is dwindling. \u00a0We used to be huge &#8220;A\u00a0Prairie Home Companion&#8221; fans. \u00a0That is until the M.C. got up on a soap box about his political stance.<\/p>\n<p>Our next favorite show was &#8220;The Story&#8221;. \u00a0It was enjoyable. \u00a0They interviewed &#8220;real people&#8221;, had a great format~a nice program. \u00a0The only problem with that was the time of day. \u00a0It was late evening. \u00a0 Then they changed the format and we quit listening to it.<\/p>\n<p>There was always Terry Gross with &#8220;Fresh Air&#8221; and Tom Ashbrook with &#8220;On Point&#8221; but those shows are a little bent and you have to be in a certain frame of mind to listen to them. \u00a0You simply cannot take those shows seriously or you will get angry. \u00a0And, they were on late at night.<\/p>\n<p>Our locally produced shows are pretty good! \u00a0We listen to them often. \u00a0Mississippi Public Radio does a very good job producing morning shows for the 9:00 a.m. time slot. \u00a0 On Monday&#8217;s they have the show &#8220;Relatively Speaking&#8221; which is a mental health(ish) type of call in show. \u00a0On Tuesday&#8217;s they produce &#8220;Money Talks&#8221; which is a financial show (and totally depressing because they keep saying to &#8220;SAVE!&#8221;). \u00a0Wednesday&#8217;s is &#8220;Southern Remedy&#8221;. \u00a0This is another call in medical show. \u00a0Thursday is the local favorite, Creature comforts. \u00a0A call in show about pet health. \u00a0And Friday is &#8220;The Gestalt Gardener&#8221;, a horticultural show. \u00a0These are all well produced shows.<\/p>\n<p>Why cannot the rest of Public Radio have quality shows like this?<\/p>\n<p>As far as Nationally syndicated shows, the only one left that we listen to is &#8220;Whad&#8217;ya Know?&#8221; \u00a0The show beings with the M.C. asking that question&#8230;&#8221;Whad&#8217;ya Know?&#8221;, to which everyone in the audience replies&#8230;&#8221;Not Much! You?&#8221; and the show proceeds from there. \u00a0It is light and entertaining. \u00a0Seeing as the show is produced in Madison, Wisconsin, the politics lean a little to the left and sometimes leave us wincing a bit but it is all clean fun.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?attachment_id=1333\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1333\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1333\" alt=\"unnamed\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/unnamed.jpg\" width=\"170\" height=\"41\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a055 min lifting at the &#8220;Y&#8221; We enjoy listening to Public Radio. \u00a0Or at least we used to. \u00a0We are finding that the list of favorite shows is dwindling. \u00a0We used to be huge &#8220;A\u00a0Prairie Home Companion&#8221; fans. \u00a0That is until the M.C. got up on a soap box about his political stance.
