Are not those about the prettiest eggs you have ever seen? \u00a0And they taste mighty fine, too!<\/p>\n
So, thanks and kudos to “The Ladies” for their fine, fine work!<\/p>\n
Today’s Run: \u00a045 min lifting at the “Y” and a TON of cleaning!<\/p>\n
We have been collecting eggs from the hens now for two weeks (2 1\/2?). \u00a0They are laying beautiful brown eggs about the size of a large egg you would purchase from the grocery store. \u00a0These are their “pullet” eggs.<\/p>\n
Pullet eggs are from chickens who are just getting the hang of laying eggs. They are noticeably smaller than regular eggs and can even occasionally be quite tiny as the hens work out their learning curve. \u00a0These hens, once they get the “hang of laying” will be laying extra-large to jumbo size brown eggs. \u00a0That sounds good to me!<\/p>\n
Some of the eggs are beginning to increase in size already. \u00a0It is fun to watch them get larger and try to guess who is laying them.<\/p>\n
We have received approximately two dozen eggs from “The Ladies”. \u00a0They are quite proud of themselves as we are of them. \u00a0Today, though, was a crowing achievement. \u00a0We had enough surplus eggs to completely fill a dozen egg carton!<\/p>\n
