When I was in High School (how many years ago we will not discuss here), we were assigned a Senior Project for English class. \u00a0This was a major portion of our grade for the last semester. \u00a0I chose to do an anthology. \u00a0One of the poems I included was one entitled “Our Mr. Toad”.<\/p>\n

Well, last night we had a visitor on our back door that reminded me of that poem and that assignment. \u00a0I still have that anthology, so I pulled out that poem and I will share with you and then the photo of our visitor. Granted, our visitor was a frog and not a toad but they are easily mistaken by people, so we will just pretend. \u00a0Okay?<\/p>\n

Our Mr. Toad<\/p>\n

Our Mr. Toad<\/p>\n

has a nice abode<\/p>\n

Under the first front step.<\/p>\n

When it rains he’s cool<\/p>\n

In a secret pool<\/p>\n

Where the water goes<\/p>\n

drip<\/p>\n

drop<\/p>\n

drip.<\/p>\n

Our Mr. Toad<\/p>\n

Will avoid the road:<\/p>\n

He’s a private-cellar man.<\/p>\n

And it’s not much fun<\/p>\n

In the broiling sun<\/p>\n

When you have a good<\/p>\n

ten<\/p>\n

tone<\/p>\n

tan.<\/p>\n

Our Mr. Toad<\/p>\n

Has a kind of code<\/p>\n

That tells him the coast is clear.<\/p>\n

Then away he’ll hop<\/p>\n

With a stop, stop, stop<\/p>\n

When the duck draws<\/p>\n

nigh<\/p>\n

no<\/p>\n

near.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
