I had them for five years until I could have them removed. \u00a0I had surgery this past August for removal and it is a wonderful thing! \u00a0After a while, your glasses cannot correct for the cataract and you are unable to see worth a hill of beans. \u00a0It is a bad situation. \u00a0You cannot drive (at least my Dr. would not allow me to drive) and I saw double for the last year I had them leading up to the surgery.<\/p>\n<p>But not anymore!!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Normal vision\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nei.nih.gov\/health\/images\/normal_vision_color.jpg\" width=\"262\" height=\"175\" border=\"1\" \/><br \/>\nNormal vision<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"As viewed by a cataract person\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nei.nih.gov\/health\/images\/cataract_color.jpg\" width=\"262\" height=\"175\" border=\"1\" \/><br \/>\nThe same scene as viewed by a person with cataract<br \/>\nDouble that second photo and that is how I was seeing last August. \u00a0Boo. \u00a0Now I do not wear glasses (except for granny glasses for reading) and I am a happy camper!<\/p>\n<p>Why am I telling you this when we have covered it in the past? \u00a0Well, today my Dad finally broke down and had one of his cataracts removed. \u00a0He probably is not tip-top right now, drugs wearing off and all that, but tomorrow he should be a very happy camper, too!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jx03h52wr3w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is a surgery from 2011. \u00a0I know that they have made improvements since then. \u00a0I had toric lenses implanted for my astigmatisms. \u00a0That particular type of lens is supposed to help correct the astigmatism as well as correct the distance vision. \u00a0Thank goodness for modern medicine, huh?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a01 mile walk Cataracts.
