Today’s Run: 4.82 miles<\/p>\n
Two times now we have had to order a new queen bee for one of our bee hives. \u00a0The queens get old and do not lay as they should, so the population in the hive goes down and the hive is not as productive as it should be. Enter USPS.<\/p>\n
The USPS is not enthusiastic about delivering bees to a persons home. \u00a0I think they must be skittish about having a box of bees buzzing around in their truck for the day. \u00a0It is not like they can get loose or anything! \u00a0The queens are in their own little cage with a few “attendants” to keep them company for the duration of their trip. \u00a0Silly postal carriers.<\/p>\n
Last Summer, when we ordered our first queen, our carrier stuffed the box, with the queen, in our mailbox and did not let us know she had arrived (the box says to call immediately when she arrives) and it was over 100 degrees. \u00a0Fortunately, we checked the mail early that day and she was fine.<\/p>\n
This past week we ordered our second queen and she arrived deceased. \u00a0Bummer. \u00a0The bee company sent us a replacement and she was fine. \u00a0The USPS called, like they should, and we went to pick her up, like we should, and they held the box, by the corner, to give her to us. \u00a0They were very happy to get rid of that box! \u00a0Silly USPS.<\/p>\n
Anyway, we now have a happy hive with a new queen and hopefully will have lots of new baby bees and a lot of honey! \u00a0All is well that ends well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
