#IRun4Aiden and Michigan

Over the past couple of days I’ve been working on catching you up on our trip to Minnesota for Grandma’s Marathon and our travels home.  It was such a great trip!  One of the best vacations ever!

Yesterday, I introduced you to a few of my online friends.  These are people I chat with on almost a daily basis and was fortunate enough to get to meet IRL.

I saved these last people for a separate blog post.  The opportunity to meet with this sweet family kind of popped up at almost the last minute.  The drive in Michigan to meet them ended up trumping the race in my book.

MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I were able to meet Aiden (#IRun4Aiden) and his parents (his Grandparents and Auntie, too!).

This quite simply was the highlight of our entire trip!

As we were making our travel plans and nailing down details for the trip, MFH asked me, “How far is it from Duluth to ________, Michigan?

Seeing as Google is my friend, I found the answer pretty quick.

MFH and I did some math as far as driving time and logistics with Paxton (my pudgy pooch) reservations at “Reggie’s House,” (where we board him), to see if this stop would be do-able.

It Was!!!

I messaged Aiden’s mom and asked her if it would be too much trouble for us to pop on by.  We didn’t want to impose.  They’re busy people.  Company can be more trouble than it’s worth sometimes.  Always best to ask.

She replied that it would be great!

YAY!!!

We made our plans and let her know what day we would be passing in their area.

I’ll be honest here.  That race was pretty tough.  It was hot.  I was dehydrated.  It wasn’t pretty.  Then I remembered we’d be visiting Aiden and there was No. Way. I was going to meet him without a new race medal!  That just wasn’t going to happen!!!

As we got closer to his house, I was getting all nervous.  Was my hair okay (I was overdue for a haircut).  How about my makeup?  I’d re-do my lipstick.  I was driving MFH bonkers.

Finally, we pulled off the highway and onto his street!  AGH!  I was sooooo nervous!  What if they didn’t like me?  What if they didn’t want me to run for Aiden anymore???

I’ve got to say, Aiden is blessed with some terrific Grandparents, Auntie and Parents.  They are simply the best of the best!!!

We had such a nice visit!  We went out for dinner.  Took some pics.  Waved our goodbyes.

I dearly love that sweet little boy and I’ll continue to turn myself inside out to be the very best runner for him I can be.
