Texas

Friday, early morning, I will be leaving for a drive to Austin, Texas.  I’m pretty stoked about this!!!

The past 4(?) years, I’ve had some online running friends.  All this time, we’ve chatted online practically every day and finally(!) I will be getting to meet them IRL!  This is pretty cool beans stuff!!!

I’ve checked Google Maps and the drive will take close to 11 hours.  That’s a long drive!

MFH (My Favorite Husband) will be staying home with the animals.  In reality, he has a project for work so he’ll be a pretty busy guy with the project and taking care of Paxton and the cats.

I’ll be staying with one of my friends in Austin, Texas.  She invited me to crash on her sofa.  That was very nice of her and I intend to do just that!  She loves wine and jigsaw puzzles.  MFH and I went shopping yesterday and I found a 4000 piece jigsaw puzzle for her.  It’s supposed to be just a tad shy of 5′ when it’s all put together!  That’s one BIG puzzle!  I also picked up a bottle of wine for her.  I know it’s inconvenient to have house guests so hopefully this will take the sting out of having me on her sofa for three days.

We will be running the Austin 10/20 on Sunday.  That’s the entire/official reason for the trip.  The race AND getting to meet all these people.

Originally, another running friend of mine was going to travel with me but she bailed at the last minute so I’ll be traveling solo.  MFH is going to make sure our AAA is paid up.  Hahaha!!!

This morning (Easter Sunday) I ran a quick 7 miles before church.  The humidity is back here in Mississippi.  Humidity always makes running more of a challenge.  Builds character, right?

TBH, I’m happy to be seeing some humidity.  I’m hoping for a little heat this week as well!  Why?  Because I’m expecting a lot of both at next Sunday’s race and I’d like to be able to acclimate to it as much as possible!

“Experts” say it takes about 2 weeks to completely acclimate to a warmer/humid climate.  I only have one week but as my FIL likes to say, “Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.”  Hahaha!!!  Well, there is that!

With the weather warming up, this also presents a new “season.”  Radar Racing Season.

Radar racing season is a real thing!!!  Ask any runner who has a training schedule to keep and has a nasty stretch of weather heading his/her way!  I did this just this morning on my 7 miler before church.  Barely got it done, too!

Aiden is feeling better!  This is wonderful news!!!  He had a bad patch there for about a week.  He was hospitalized for 4 days.  Poor kid!  He’s been home close to 4 days now and doing tons better!  He even got to color Easter Eggs last night!  Lucky kid!!!  Those are some pretty eggs!

As we wind up this Easter Sunday, let’s not forget the real reason we celebrate this day.

Christ is Risen!  He is risen, indeed!!!
