The Engagement Story

Soooo,

#1 Daughter and I were doing some last minute Christmas shopping on the Wednesday before Christmas.  We had gone to an outdoor shopping mall and because we are super smart people, had parked in a secret area that only locals know about.  It’s not crowded and you can park a lot closer.  We were feeling very clever.

We met up with a friend and her two little boys and shopped.  It was fun!

After Macy’s Department Store, we went our separate ways.  The boys were getting the fidgets and needed to run.

#1 Daughter and I decided to go to the Red Robin in the same shopping complex and grab a drink before heading back to her house.  We hopped in her truck and drove two, count them, TWO parking spaces when she hit the breaks.

There was her #1 Boyfriend’s car!

We swung into the empty parking space next to his car and she texted him.  She told him we were going for drinks and to come and have a drink with us.

Pretty soon, here comes #1 Boyfriend hurrying through the parking lot towards his car.  He was walking funny because he was trying to hide a package behind his back.

He was motioning with his head to #1 Daughter saying, “You go on ahead to Red Robin and get us a table.  I want to show something to your mom.”

#1 Daughter was curious (so was I!) and asked what it was.

“Oh, nothing.  Just go get us a table and we’ll be right there.”

#1 Daughter kinda gave us the evil eye. She didn’t go into the store but stood far enough away that he could show me whatever it was….

What is was, was her engagement ring!!!

He was sooooo excited!

“Do you think she’ll like it???” he kept asking me.

“Oh yes!  She’ll like it!”  I assured him.

Then he said, “Don’t tell her.”

That’s the hard part.  When something is that exciting, I HAVE to tell somebody!!!  If I don’t, I’ll *pop* ~~ He was asking the unthinkable.

We met up with #1 Daughter and she asked what it was.  I calmly replied, “Your Christmas present.”

“Will I like it?” she asked.

“YES!!!” I tried super hard not to scream my reply.  Hahaha!!!

When I finally made it back to the hotel, I told MFH (My Favorite Husband) and the second I got into the room, I said, okay maybe yelled, “I SAW HER CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!”

MFH very quietly said, “Don’t tell me what it is.”

AAUUUGGGHHH!!!!!

That was the longest night of my life.  I HAD to tell somebody!!!  It was still two days until Christmas!

Thank God, #1 Boyfriend became #1 Fiance’ that evening because he gave her the ring early.

Whew!

It was so much fun to be able to be there with her on such a special time in her life.  Wouldn’t trade that for the world!
