Monthly Archives: November 2015

It’s Been A While! Lots of pics!

I knew it had been a little while since I’d blogged.  I looked back and saw my last blog was on November 11.  Today (or tonight, rather) is November 28.  Oops!  Too long.  We have some catching up to do!

For starters:  My tally for miles run this calendar year:  2136.68 miles.  This number makes me happy.  Do you think we’ll hit 2200 by the end of the year?  That would be too cool!!!

I mailed off Aiden’s Christmas package to him yesterday.  My sister made (croquet/knit?) him a winter hat with Michigan’s colors.  His family are big Michigan fans.  I mean BIG Michigan fans!  It’s a cute hat!  I think he’ll like it.  Of course, we sent off a jar of honey from our bees.  That’s a must have.  Other things and of course medals.  He will be getting 4 medals in this package.  We have one from the Marine Corps Marathon, the 2015 miles in 2015 gave out medals when you reached your goal,  one from the Gateway to the Delta 10 Miler and one from the Tanglefoot Turkey Trot Half Marathon I ran on Thanksgiving morning.

Thanksgiving was this past Thursday.  I hope everybody had a great day!  MFH (My Favorite Husband), Paxton and I left our house 4:00 am on Thanksgiving Day to drive to New Albany, Mississippi, for the Half Marathon.  I ran the race~super fun race!!!  It’s low key.  A very nice route.  Not too hard but not too easy either.  Met some people I know from online.  Photo ops (of course!) We stayed for the awards because I had placed 1st in my Age Group!  YAY!!!

This is a pic of one of my online friends I met at the race.  Super nice lady!  She ran a marathon in San Francisco this fall.  We know a lot of the same people so we talked and talked and talked.  Fun times!!!

A lot of people at the race were wearing orange.  A few weeks before this event, one of the local runners son was injured in an ATV accident and sustained a substantial brain injury.  To show our respect to the family, we all wore orange (big Tennessee fans).

Because we were hosting Thanksgiving this year AND because we would be doing the Christmas gift exchange with my side of the family, I had put the tree up early.  Can’t very well celebrate Christmas without a tree, right?

When I first put the tree up, Castro was afraid of it.  Wouldn’t go anywhere near the thing.  As you can see in the pic, he got over that.  In this pic, I had caught him reaching out to clobber a decoration.  As soon as he saw me with the camera, he pretended to be getting ready for a kitty nap.  I was not fooled.

I’ve been keeping a pretty close eye on Castro and Kali.  Those two cats…well, I think our tree is doomed.

While MFH and I were at the race, my sister was super nice and came over to my house early and put the turkey in the oven.  How awesome is that!?!  It came out wonderful!!!

The week leading up to Thanksgiving saw Mississippi in a bit of a cold snap.  By that I mean it was very, very cold!  Seeing as I am a self proclaimed #coldweathersissy this cold weather was not sitting well with me at all.  I pulled on every stitch of cold weather running gear I owned before heading out of the house.  One day I ran 10 miles and didn’t break a sweat.  That is soooooo wrong!!!  Too cold.  I’ve been doing my fair share of grumbling about the cold weather online.  🙂

Because it’s been chilly, I’ve been using the infamous “Fuzzy Blanket” at night.  #1 Daughter made this blanket for me close to 12 years ago as a Christmas present.  I swear this is the warmest blanket I’ve ever owned!  One side of it is faux fur~hence the name, “fuzzy blanket.”  Kali appreciates the fuzzy blanket as well.  Every night it is a battle as to who gets the fuzzy blanket.  One night, I most definitely lost!  She beat me to it and I didn’t have the heart to move her.

Yesterday was the day after Thanksgiving and MFH let me know what my Christmas present was going to be.  He went into the kitchen and started ripping up the linoleum~that meant I will be getting my tile floor in the kitchen for Christmas!  *Happy Dance*

We are planning on replacing the flooring in the house~hopefully by the end of 2016.  Flooring is a big project.  The tile we can do ourselves.  MFH is good at DIY stuff.  The Bamboo flooring we want in the rest of the house will have to be installed.  $$$

This evening, MFH is at the Egg Bowl.  He scored a ticket from my sister and her husband.  Lucky man!!!  The Egg Bowl is a huge rivalry between Mississippi State University and Ole Miss.  Just so there is no question as to who I cheer for, let me say here and now:  HAIL STATE!!!

He had his cowbell and drove off to cheer the Mississippi State Bulldogs to Victory!

Seeing as MFH is gone for the evening, that meant it was Nutty Bar time for Paxton and myself.  Mmmm!!!

This dog cracks me up!!!  Have you ever seen such a face!?!  Hahaha!!!

This next week running is going to be a doozie.  I have an easy 6 tomorrow (Sunday) and an easy 10 on Monday.  Tuesday will be a rest day because Wednesday I have 24 miles to run and another 8 on Thursday before a rest day again on Friday.  Another 8 on Saturday to wrap up the week.  Whew!  I’m going to be a tired gal.

Are you still with me?  Hahaha!!!  I need to blog more often or else I end up writing an epistle!  That’s pretty much it in a nutshell as to what has happened since we last chatted.  Oh!  I ordered MFH’s Christmas present and I’m DYING to tell somebody what it is…but I can’t.  He might find out.  Sad Panda.  I guess you’ll just have to wait, like he will, to find out!  🙂
