Oktoberfest

I can’t believe my good fortune!  First off getting to go run the Berlin Marathon and then having that race coincide with Oktoberfest!

Seeing as nothing beats a nice cold beer~especially after a long, hot run, the thought of being in the beer capital of the world during Oktoberfest itself is amazing!

Now, as far as the race is concerned, I’m pretty much ready.  Still about 150 miles to run (maybe a little more) before MFH (My Favorite Husband) get on that plane in 21 days, I am thinking I may need to do a little different type of homework.

I need to learn about German beers.

I like a nice stout or porter.  They are a heavy, strong “flavored” beer.  Nummers!  From what I am learning, the German beers are more of a wheat beer.  Hmmm….

Knowing that there will be a language barrier while we are there, I figured I should probably know a bit about the different beers and what I would like to sample while there.

Now, Oktoberfest isn’t just beer!  There is a lot of cultural stuff and rides and a general party atmosphere.  There is a lot of German pride on display during the Oktoberfest celebration.

I’m just going to post a little youtube video and it’ll give you an idea of what it will be like as far as celebration stuff is concerned while we are there.  Now, bear in mind, my primary purpose for being there is to race!  I have a pretty aggressive goal for this event and I’m NOT going to jeopardize it by partying and drinking.  Nope. The race is first and foremost.  *disclaimer:  this was just in case you were afraid I was going off the rails.  Hahaha!!!*
