We don’t call that dog Bozo for nothing.  He has earned that moniker over and over during his short 5 years on this earth.

He earned it again today.

MFH (My Favorite Husband) had just returned from running a quick errand.  He was getting out of the truck and Paxton wanted to go say “Hi!”

Something you need to know about Paxton.  He does not obey very well.  You can call him until you are blue in the face and unless he feels like coming, he won’t!  You will be old and gray if you plan on waiting for him to do what he is supposed to do.

Paxton can be a stinker.

MFH had just pulled into the driveway and I let Paxton out to greet MFH.  This generally doesn’t sit well with MFH because then we have to wrestle with Paxton to get him back to the house.

MFH came into the house and Paxton acted like he was going to do the same, but he saw a butterfly.  That was infinitely more interesting than obeying and coming back into the house.

So, I am standing at the front door:  “Here, Paxton!”  “Come here, Paxton!”  “Be a good boy, Paxton.”  “Paxton, COME!”

Nothing was working. He had taking it into his puppy head that he didn’t want to come in after all.

Grrrr.

Then, I had a great idea.  See, Paxton takes his responsibility of guarding the house very seriously.  If somebody comes to the door, he is all over that!  Scares people to death!  He is a good watch dog if nothing else.  So…

I held the front door open and rang the door bell.

Ding Dong!

Paxton stopped dead in his puppy tracks and made an about face.

“Bow-wow-wow-wow-wow!!!”  He said as he charged back toward the house.

Paxton flew into the house and turned immediately around so he could see who had rung the doorbell on our stoop.  It never occurred to him that he would have run right past whoever had rung the doorbell (me) and he would have seen them already.

Nope.  He was deadly serious.  “Who dares approach my house and ring my doorbell!?!” He was saying.

Since he didn’t see anybody, he soon lost interest and went to his doggie bed for an afternoon nap.  He is sleeping it off as we speak.
