Happy Halloween!

Today’s Run:  2.07 miles

Today was our last run before the big race on Saturday and we made it a very small run.  2.07 miles.  We probably should have made it a bit bigger due to the fact that we will probably have Halloween candy left over.

We bought ONE BAG of Halloween candy this year.  Just ONE.  A bag of fun size Snickers.  I put it in the freezer in the hopes that “out of sight, out of mind”. Nope.  Did not work.  I will say, though, that my husband broke open the bag before I got into it.  I have only had two candy bars.  For me, that is showing incredible restraint!  I do not know how many he has had.  Neither one of us is too terribly concerned about running out of candy tonight due to the fact that in the three years we have lived here, we have never had someone come to the house for candy.

Going to churches for “Trunk or Treat” is a big deal here in Mississippi.  The local churches have members get a bunch of candy and put it in their car trunks. The little darlings dress up and come to church and trick or treat from church members car trunks-from people they presumably know.  Safety first!

When we lived in Colorado,  Main Street, the local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce got together, purchased a bunch of candy, and the kids then trick or treated from business to business.  The police closed town Main Street for a few hours for the event.  It worked well!  Our church had a cocoa stand so people could warm up with free cocoa/coffee.  It was a big deal there in town.

So, whether you go trick or treating in your neighborhood, church, or town Main Street…have a safe and happy time!  Happy Halloween!
