{"id":956,"date":"2011-06-22T19:46:33","date_gmt":"2011-06-23T00:46:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=956"},"modified":"2011-06-22T19:46:50","modified_gmt":"2011-06-23T00:46:50","slug":"mossy-turtle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=956","title":{"rendered":"Mossy turtle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: Watson road 3.5 miles]<\/p>\n<p>On yesterday&#8217;s run down Watson Road, on the way back I saw this turtle in the road.<\/p>\n<p>Turtles in the road are a common sight in our area.\u00a0 Usually they are about the size of a softball.\u00a0 But this guy was a bit larger.\u00a0 I put my cap down beside him for scale.\u00a0 It looks like his shell would make a nice hat, if he weren&#8217;t using it.<\/p>\n<p>I usually don&#8217;t mess with turtles, for a couple of reasons:\u00a0 A: I understand they aren&#8217;t very clean and B: if you bug them they just lock up and it means that much longer sitting in the road waiting to get hit by a car.\u00a0 So if I do stop to look at one on a busy street I&#8217;ll try to move it out of traffic.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-957\" href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?attachment_id=957\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-957\" title=\"IMG00417-20110621-0640\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/IMG00417-20110621-0640-700x525.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/IMG00417-20110621-0640-700x525.jpg 700w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/IMG00417-20110621-0640.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: Watson road 3.5 miles] On yesterday&#8217;s run down Watson Road, on the way back I saw this turtle in the road.
