I had ordered a custom multi-section power supply capacitor, and I&#8217;ve had that for awhile.  The other day I made a list of all of the molded, rolled paper and electrolytics got those ordered.  And they have arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next step is to dive in and do the component replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That should take care of most of the electronics restoration.  I have some further work to do on the knobs.   I may need to order some plastic polish to get them into shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an old style stereo system the pre-amp is mostly a switching box.  All of the sources are plugged into it and the output is plugged into a power amplifier which boosts the level to drive speakers.   Eventually both the switching part and the amp part were combined into one box (like my Fisher X-100).    Later iterations then combined the AM\/FM tuner with the switching amp to make something called a receiver.
