A <a href=\"https:\/\/wqad.com\/2019\/09\/13\/flash-flooding-in-dubuque-washes-away-progress-on-project-aiming-to-help-water-run-off\/\">heavy rainstorm moved through on Thursday night soaking us with over two inches in one hour.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our house is on a bit of a bump and also near the top of a bluff (on the away-from-the-river side of the bluff.)  So we have good long term drainage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately our gutters are needing a clean-out, so the fast rain overwhelmed them, putting the rain into the yard near the house and eventually some of it ended up in the basement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had boxes on the floor in the basement.  But we were able to get everything put up before much got wet.  The floor drain was busy but never backed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I now have fans and dehumidifier running in the basement and it is drying out nicely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other parts of town there were some more serious issues.  <a href=\"https:\/\/wqad.com\/2019\/09\/12\/watch-dubuque-flood-waters-carry-dumpster-down-avenue\/\">Steep streets mean fast running water<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Yesterday&#8217;s run: 4 miles &#8211; south on Grandview to highway 61] We had a bit of a water event this week.
