{"id":6612,"date":"2018-09-13T19:51:36","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T00:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=6612"},"modified":"2018-09-13T19:56:30","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T00:56:30","slug":"the-yellow-gate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=6612","title":{"rendered":"The Yellow Gate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Monday&#8217;s run: 3.4 miles]<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve had about an 8 week stretch of various travels.\u00a0 And today our adventure takes us to <a href=\"https:\/\/tnstateparks.com\/parks\/frozen-head\">Frozen Head State Park<\/a> near Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the famous (in our house anyway) Yellow Gate.<\/p>\n<p>This Yellow Gate shows up in the documentary <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/UQmoxlUy33A\">The Barkley Marathons<\/a> which is about a gruelling ultra-marathon.\u00a0\u00a0 Ever since she first saw that movie, my lovely wife has been trying to get into that event.\u00a0 This coming Saturday is the Barkley Fall Classic 50K which takes place on some of the same course but is approximately 1\/5th as long.\u00a0 And we are here in Tennessee so she can participate.<\/p>\n<p>[For anyone who might be concerned when reading this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A) The world&#8217;s biggest dog and the dog-sitter are still in our house during this time<\/li>\n<li>B) The wife is trained up and ready to go<\/li>\n<li>C) I brought some books to read while she is out there for 10-20 hours climbing these hills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?attachment_id=6613\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6613\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6613\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/AtTheYellowGate.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"526\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Monday&#8217;s run: 3.4 miles] We&#8217;ve had about an 8 week stretch of various travels.\u00a0 And today our adventure takes us to Frozen Head State Park near Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the famous (in our house anyway) Yellow Gate.
