{"id":6123,"date":"2017-12-07T08:09:46","date_gmt":"2017-12-07T14:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=6123"},"modified":"2017-12-07T08:35:18","modified_gmt":"2017-12-07T14:35:18","slug":"quick-visit-and-food-in-new-orleans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=6123","title":{"rendered":"Quick visit and food in New Orleans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 3+ miles on treadmill]<\/p>\n<p>We made a quick visit to New Orleans yesterday.\u00a0 We zoomed in for a late lunch \/ early dinner at a place called Cooter Brown&#8217;s, sort of near Tulane University.\u00a0 The food was very good.<\/p>\n<p>We also did a quick drive-through of the french quarter.\u00a0 My wife thought that area was creepy.<\/p>\n<p>We came in from the north on I-10 over the lake and then left again toward the north on the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lake_Pontchartrain_Causeway\">Pontchartrain Causeway<\/a>.\u00a0 Wikipedia says it is the longest continuous bridge over water.<\/p>\n<p>New Orleans was bigger and grittier than I expected.\u00a0 I suspect it would look better in the spring with flowering plants and trees.\u00a0 As for the food, we split a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muffuletta\">muffuletta<\/a> and had some buttermilk coleslaw and some fried boudin balls with spicy dipping sauce.\u00a0 It was very good; lots of flavors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 3+ miles on treadmill] We made a quick visit to New Orleans yesterday.\u00a0 We zoomed in for a late lunch \/ early dinner at a place called Cooter Brown&#8217;s, sort of near Tulane University.\u00a0 The food was very good.
