[Yesterday: 3.5 miles]<\/p>\n
We have a wedding to attend in early August and it fell to me to go buy a new suit.<\/p>\n
I tried to figure out when I last bought a suit.\u00a0 Back in the days I worked as a computer consultant, and then immediately after when I was a systems engineer for NCR, I wore suits every day.\u00a0 I believe during that time I had three suits which I purchased from Reichardts in Des Moines.\u00a0 (“I’m Bill Reichardt and I own the store.”)\u00a0 Maybe it was only two suits.\u00a0 I know that I still have the remains of two hanging in my closet.\u00a0 I have not worn either in over 10 years.<\/p>\n
Ok, so I left working at NCR in 1995. (’96, ’97, 2007, 2017)\u00a0 That was twenty two years ago.<\/p>\n
So I needed a new suit.\u00a0 We drove over to Starkville and put ourselves in the hands of the premier local haberdashery and walked out with the promise of a new suit, a shirt and a tie, to be picked up in about 10 days after the minor alterations are made.<\/p>\n
There was some trepidation on my part that maybe they would be forced to “let out” the middle in a substantial way.\u00a0 But the waist of the pants pretty much fit as they were off of the rack.\u00a0 I guess my middle matches my shoulders in the off-the-rack stylebook these days.\u00a0 They are going to shorten the sleeves and the legs.<\/p>\n
I have some acceptable shoes already.<\/p>\n
Speaking of style, I couldn’t tell you the difference between the 22-years-ago suits and the new one.\u00a0 The button seemed to be in about the same place.\u00a0 The material of this new one is lighter, necessary for Mississippi weather.\u00a0 So either I skipped a whole bunch of fashion trends or not much has happened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
