{"id":560,"date":"2011-04-17T16:12:05","date_gmt":"2011-04-17T21:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=560"},"modified":"2011-04-17T16:25:05","modified_gmt":"2011-04-17T21:25:05","slug":"my-qsl-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=560","title":{"rendered":"My QSL Card"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Yesterday&#8217;s run : 12 miles with Boardtown Runners]<\/p>\n<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 4 miles on old 45 highway]<\/p>\n<p>More on QSL cards.<\/p>\n<p>QSL card is a postcard that amateur radio operators and shortwave listeners send to each other to confirm that they had a contact (or, for SWL&#8217;s that they heard a broadcast).<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t send cards to everybody that I talk to on the radio.\u00a0 Generally I don&#8217;t send one to folks that I talk to using the local 2-meter FM repeater system.\u00a0 And I don&#8217;t send one to HF contacts unless it is a special contact or they send me one first.\u00a0 I almost always send one in reply if someone sends me one.<\/p>\n<p>Now days I use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arrl.org\/logbook-of-the-world\">Logbook Of The World\u00a0 (LoTW)<\/a> which is an electronic method of confirming contacts hosted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arrl.org\">Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL)<\/a>.\u00a0 I send almost all of my log to LoTW.\u00a0 But that gets us into the issue of what I log, which is a whole &#8216;nother subject.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s just say I log pretty much everything except local repeater contacts.<\/p>\n<p>When I do send a card, here is what I send.\u00a0 I print this out on cardstock and write the details of the contact and the address info on the back, just like a postcard that you get from someone on vacation at the Grand Canyon.<br \/>\n<a rel=\"attachment wp-att-561\" href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?attachment_id=561\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-561\" style=\"border: 10px solid black;\" title=\"southus\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/southus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"425\" \/><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Yesterday&#8217;s run : 12 miles with Boardtown Runners] [Today&#8217;s run: 4 miles on old 45 highway] More on QSL cards.
