In tall and grassy noise I hear a peep.\r\nA zed el from New Zealand's tiny bleat\r\nthat echos with a hollowness of space,\r\ndistorted by collisions with the globe,\r\nrefractions in the layered atmosphere.\r\nI take my key and tap a quick reply\r\nwhile hoping that some larger station's call\r\ndoes not monopolize the Kiwi's ear,\r\nbut that he'll hear me likewise in the air\r\nand recognize my smaller wattage note\r\nas something meekly sent with best regards\r\nand kind intentions.
