{"id":5535,"date":"2016-09-21T19:04:58","date_gmt":"2016-09-22T00:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5535"},"modified":"2016-09-21T19:07:23","modified_gmt":"2016-09-22T00:07:23","slug":"web-pages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5535","title":{"rendered":"Web pages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[today: 3.5 miles]<\/p>\n<p>I spent a bit of time last night working on the WMFH-LP daily schedule web page.\u00a0 I added some colored bands for the four serial-works that play three times a day to set them apart from the random stuff that goes in between.<\/p>\n<p>I remember putting together some very simple web pages in 1994\/1995.\u00a0 I even taught a little class for my fellow employees at the Iowa State University Library when I worked there.\u00a0 Things have changed a lot since then.<\/p>\n<p>Our WMFH-LP website runs using a package called WordPress.\u00a0 (And so does this blog.)\u00a0 What I did last night was I added some &#8220;class&#8221; attributes to the table rows for those hours I was interested in.\u00a0 Then I added a bit of custom CSS to make those rows have a different background color.<\/p>\n<p>In the old days the fonts and colors and such were all embedded in the HTML tags.\u00a0 But they have separated that kind of thing out to the CSS file.\u00a0 Some of the tag functions also seem to have migrated to the CSS.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure how they draw the line on which thing goes where.\u00a0 I guess the good thing about it is the separation of data from presentation.\u00a0 The bad thing about it is that you now have to download multiple files to see a single page.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[today: 3.5 miles] I spent a bit of time last night working on the WMFH-LP daily schedule web page.\u00a0 I added some colored bands for the four serial-works that play three times a day to set them apart from the random stuff that goes in between.
