{"id":5287,"date":"2016-02-25T19:11:36","date_gmt":"2016-02-26T01:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5287"},"modified":"2016-02-25T19:11:36","modified_gmt":"2016-02-26T01:11:36","slug":"remote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5287","title":{"rendered":"Remote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run 3.5 miles]<\/p>\n<p>One of the things I still have to figure out is how to remotely monitor and control this radio station.<\/p>\n<p>At a minimum I am required to be able to turn it off within three hours if anything goes wacko.\u00a0 I think I have an idea about that one.\u00a0 I can poke a hole in the internet firewall and get into the playback computer.\u00a0 I have a way to turn off the transmitter from there.<\/p>\n<p>The big-shot stations have equipment ($$$) to monitor their frequency, modulation and power output.\u00a0 That type of thing can be set up to trigger an email or even turn off the transmitter.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m contemplating trying to use a beaglebone computer to do that.\u00a0 Beaglebone was what I used in the solar powered weather station project.\u00a0 I have to figure out how to measure the stuff I want to monitor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run 3.5 miles] One of the things I still have to figure out is how to remotely monitor and control this radio station.
