{"id":5206,"date":"2016-01-14T21:41:21","date_gmt":"2016-01-15T03:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5206"},"modified":"2016-01-14T21:50:11","modified_gmt":"2016-01-15T03:50:11","slug":"wandering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5206","title":{"rendered":"Wandering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 3.5 miles]<\/p>\n<p>I ran my regular route over on Watson Road just after noon today.\u00a0 There was a man by the fence and he looked sort of like our neighbor Mr. E.\u00a0 But I couldn&#8217;t tell so I just waved and continued on.<\/p>\n<p>Later there was a small dirt mover, one that looks like a mini-excavator shovel.\u00a0 A guy was working on the ditch in front of the &#8220;new house&#8221;.\u00a0 He had a trailer and a truck that he had used to haul in the shovel thing. I went on down to the end of the road.<\/p>\n<p>On the way back I saw the man again.\u00a0 Turned out it was Mr. E, our neighbor down the street.\u00a0 He was wearing nicer clothes than I usually see him in, a nice new jacket.\u00a0 But it was him.\u00a0 And I spoke to him and shook his hand.\u00a0 I asked how he was doing and he said fine.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t see Mr. E very much.\u00a0 When we moved into this neighborhood in 2009 he was the first neighbor to talk to me.\u00a0 He was driving by when he stopped and waved and said that we should call him if we needed anything.\u00a0 He is a nice man.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ve spoken to him a few times since then.\u00a0 He is kind of quiet and shy but friendly.<\/p>\n<p>I left Mr. E, passed the mini-scoop shovel guy still working on the ditch and ran on.\u00a0 It was hard running today and I slowed down a bit on the way back but I made it all the way home.<\/p>\n<p>About an hour later the dog was barking.\u00a0 A woman came to the door and I pushed the dog aside and went out to talk to her.\u00a0 It was Mr. E&#8217;s daughter (I&#8217;ve seen her a handful of times).\u00a0 She was looking for her father and wondered if I had seen him.\u00a0 She was upset.\u00a0 She said that Mr. E has been suffering from dementia and had wandered off.\u00a0 I told her I had seen him over on Watson Road.\u00a0 She called on her cell phone to her husband who was out driving looking for him.\u00a0 I went back in the house.<\/p>\n<p>After awhile the dog barked again.\u00a0 Mr. E&#8217;s daughter was there again and she said they found him and all was well.\u00a0 She said thanks.\u00a0 I was very glad they found him OK.<\/p>\n<p>We went on about our business.\u00a0 Later we went to a social function over at the airport.\u00a0 They had food and we talked to quite a few people that we know.\u00a0 It was fun.<\/p>\n<p>On the way home, on the highway there were a lot of blue and red emergency lights.\u00a0 No traffic was coming northbound.\u00a0 Our side, southbound, was completely clear so we kept going.\u00a0 We passed the jam-up.\u00a0 It looked like a truck was in the ditch in the median.\u00a0 There was also a trailer involved and a mini-scoop thing like I had seen.\u00a0 It was dark and we couldn&#8217;t tell exactly what happened.\u00a0 We continued on home.\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe we will find out tomorrow what happened if it makes the newspaper. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wcbi.com\/local-news\/video-four-hospitalized-in-ambulance-crash\/\">It made the local TV station&#8217;s website. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 3.5 miles] I ran my regular route over on Watson Road just after noon today.\u00a0 There was a man by the fence and he looked sort of like our neighbor Mr. E.\u00a0 But I couldn&#8217;t tell so I just waved and continued on.
