{"id":5048,"date":"2015-10-03T19:06:46","date_gmt":"2015-10-04T00:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5048"},"modified":"2015-10-03T19:07:08","modified_gmt":"2015-10-04T00:07:08","slug":"note-to-self-gpsdo-settle-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=5048","title":{"rendered":"Note to self: GPSDO settle time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: nothing]<\/p>\n<p>I added that reset switch to the GPSDO on September 6th.\u00a0 It was unplugged for maybe an hour or two and the oscillator had a chance to cool down during that time.<\/p>\n<p>It had been running &#8220;unlocked&#8221; until earlier today, not quite a month later.\u00a0 But now the algorithm has caught up with the change in voltage necessary for it to achieve lock with the GPS.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible to change the algorithm settings to allow quicker lock.\u00a0 But then it is better once locked to have a longer integration time.\u00a0 I have it set to about 1 hour; it will only adjust once per period.\u00a0 With a shorter period it would achieve lock quicker but the long term results would not be as good.<\/p>\n<p>And the new switch did work as expected once lock had been achieved!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: nothing] I added that reset switch to the GPSDO on September 6th.\u00a0 It was unplugged for maybe an hour or two and the oscillator had a chance to cool down during that time.
