[Today’s run: 6 miles]<\/p>\n
Oh, our run today sounded good on paper but the weather was just awful.\u00a0 The temp was in the upper 70s but there was fog and 100% humidity.\u00a0 Fog is kind of nice.\u00a0 Meter-pegged humidity means that my normal river of perspiration does absolutely no good at all.\u00a0 The air was so saturated that I had mist sticking to the hairs on my arm.\u00a0 I was gathering water just by moving through the air.\u00a0 And on top of that it was gushing out of my pores at a prodigious rate because my fat old body was vainly trying to cool down.<\/p>\n
I finished before my brain burst into flames, so that was good.\u00a0 And sitting in front of a little fan it was actually very pleasant out.\u00a0 But any kind of motion and… Niagara Falls.<\/p>\n
Ok, so that really is not what I was going to write about.<\/p>\n
I finally got up on the tower this afternoon and made some progress at getting the FM radio station antenna installed.\u00a0 Today’s job was just to take down the previously installed 2-meter ham band antenna.\u00a0 And we got that done!<\/p>\n
By the time I got down, I was exhausted.\u00a0 I just laid down on the grass and did nothing for 5 or 10 minutes.\u00a0 If it weren’t for the fire ants and other undesirables in the lawn, I would be there still.\u00a0 My wife came to the rescue with a freeze-pop thing.\u00a0 It was wonderful.<\/p>\n
It was the heat, and the upper body exertion, and mostly that I could not find a comfortable position from which to work, requiring a lot of continuous effort.<\/p>\n
But we got the thing down safely and got myself down safely.\u00a0 Now we have to get our radio station antenna up there on the tippy top.\u00a0 This would be a handy time to have a 70+ ft. extending bucket truck!\u00a0 But no, we do this the old fashioned way:\u00a0 I climb the tower and then I climb the pole that sticks out of the top of the tower and attach another 12 foot pole to that pole.\u00a0 Going to be fun.<\/p>\n
I need to recuperate a bit, and then I’ll be at it. Maybe as soon as tomorrow if the weather is good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
