[Today’s run: 4 miles]<\/p>\n
I ran the same route today, down to and along Fossil Creek Parkway.<\/p>\n
On the way back I passed a man carrying a duffel bag.\u00a0 Like usual, I said, “Good morning,”\u00a0 when I passed by him.<\/p>\n
He said, “What’s good about it?”<\/p>\n
I said, “Because it’s good.”<\/p>\n
He said, “You believe in God or Jesus or something?”<\/p>\n
I said, “I’m alive.” And by then I was too far away for a conversation.<\/p>\n
I don’t know if he was being provocative, wanting a conversation, or exactly what.\u00a0 I kept going.<\/p>\n
“Good morning” has multiple meanings.\u00a0 It can be a statement of current conditions.\u00a0 It can be a supplication for such to be the case, a blessing on the hearer.\u00a0 It might be that I don’t want people to give a big startled jolt when I run by.\u00a0 And maybe they will remember me and think kindly enough to call 911 when I get smushed by a car at the next intersection.\u00a0 It means all sorts of things.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
