In 7th grade I went to Wilson Junior High in Des Moines.\u00a0 It was on University street, where the corporate HQ for AE Dairy is now.\u00a0 It was an old building then. My father and maternal grandfather had also attended there I believe.<\/p>\n
The english teacher was this old skinny guy.\u00a0 At least he seemed old to me then.<\/p>\n
I was thinking about him today.\u00a0 On facebook people have been posting things related to the WW2 holocaust and the concentration camps.\u00a0 I think it was the last day of school, he passed around some very graphic pictures, snapshots of piles of bodies.\u00a0 He told us about “liberating” a concentration camp.\u00a0 He said that even then there were some people trying to say it never happened.<\/p>\n
After 7th grade I started at a different school and never saw Mr. Drake again.<\/p>\n
