This evening we are getting a good dose of thunderstorms.\u00a0 We have had hail and lots of rain and some sessions of wind.<\/p>\n
With my G5RV antenna at 20 ft. I just detach the feedline at the window feed-through.\u00a0 I do the same with my outside VHF vertical.<\/p>\n
I know that once I get my tower up I’m going to have to get more serious about lightning arresters and such.\u00a0 I think I will need a couple of\u00a0 ground rods at the base of the tower.\u00a0 If I use metallic guys I’ll need ground rods at the base of every guy.\u00a0 Then I will need a ground rod at the feed-through.<\/p>\n
The ARRL Antenna Book covers this information quite a bit.\u00a0 I’ll have to dig it out and see what needs to be done.<\/p>\n
