We don&#8217;t usually have a lot of success over there, but we enjoy it anyway.\u00a0 We put in at the Waverly boat dock and then rowed across the Tombigbee channel to an old river curve.<\/p>\n<p>Columbus Lake s is pretty much everything north of Columbus associated with the Tombigbee River.\u00a0 It consists of the stuff immediately behind (north of) the Stennis Lock and Dam and various curves and inlets, all the way up to north of the US-50 bridge.\u00a0 They may call it that all the way up to Amory.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t have a motor for our boat, mostly because I am too cheap to get one and getting one would require getting a license for the boat and I don&#8217;t want to do that either.\u00a0 So I row while Thomas trolls.\u00a0 And then I find a good spot and throw in the concrete-filled-paint-can anchor and we fish that spot for awhile.<\/p>\n<p>Today we saw some very large white birds, with long legs and long necks.\u00a0 And we heard an owl.\u00a0 We saw a deer swim across a short channel of water, probably 6 feet deep.<\/p>\n<p>We also rowed back along the channel for a quarter of a mile or so.\u00a0 We noticed a lot of old ropes and cables along the bank, tied to trees and just disappearing into the woods.\u00a0 It looked like old barge parking.\u00a0 I wonder why they didn&#8217;t take their ropes when they left?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 6 miles] Thomas and I went fishing this afternoon.\u00a0 We went over to Columbus Lake today, just to be different.
