We’ve had some new projects come up over the horizon and some old ones are running steady.<\/p>\n
1) The GPSDO seems to be running great.\u00a0 The control voltage has not changed much in the last few months.\u00a0\u00a0 It could stand to have a “reset” switch added in order to clear out status errors.\u00a0 But I’m doing that now via the serial port.\u00a0 I don’t have any plans to take it further at this time.<\/p>\n
2) The autonomous weather station is doing ok.\u00a0 I’ve been watching the voltage of the battery as we have gone through a string of cloudy days.\u00a0 So far it is keeping up ok.\u00a0 Even on cloudy days I get some charging from the solar panel.\u00a0 After running it for awhile, the next thing will be to order the parts for another station and get one going in Starkville and one permanently mounted here.<\/p>\n
3) I have acquired some more parts for a HBR-receiver from the Ted Crosby QST-magazine articles of the 1960’s.\u00a0 I could start working on the power supply any time.<\/p>\n
4) I broke a homebrew bench power supply.\u00a0 I was running too much current through it and I think I burned up the 3-leg voltage regulator.\u00a0 I have another supply, so this may wait awhile.<\/p>\n
5) I have acquired one of those 2 W in –> 600 W out, indestructible class-B RF mosfet devices.\u00a0 The device itself is all I have.\u00a0 There are a lot of other parts necessary to make an amplifier.\u00a0 But this device would do great for a 144 MHz 600 watt amp.<\/p>\n
6) My wife and daughter conspired together to get me an old rowboat.\u00a0 I had been looking at them on craigslist, putting the idea off.\u00a0 But they decided that my son and I could use some more fishing time.\u00a0 The boat rides great in the back of the old pickup truck.\u00a0 But now I have some work to do to get it set up for rowing.\u00a0 I need to make or buy some oars and oar locks.\u00a0 And one of the oar-lock sockets is missing.\u00a0 All of that is attainable.\u00a0 I hope to make some pretty quick progress on this stuff so we can get out on the water in a week or so.\u00a0 It could also stand to be repainted.\u00a0 But I’m going to see if it floats first.<\/p>\n
