[Today’s run: Watson Road 3.5 miles]<\/p>\n
I am moving kind of slow today.\u00a0 My run was slow and everything else is kind of slow.<\/p>\n
Last night I went to a scheduled blood drive and donated a pint.\u00a0 This particular place is at a Mennonite school south of here.\u00a0 One of the reasons to pick that place is because they give me a big cinnamon roll with lots of frosting on it afterwards.\u00a0 I have been there twice and got a roll each time.\u00a0 They have a blood drive about every 4-5 months.\u00a0 (I need to sign up and get on for the next one too.)<\/p>\n
Anyway, that kind of slowed me down a bit.<\/p>\n
The other interesting item related to that:<\/p>\n
Before I\u00a0 can donate blood the blood people ask all sorts of questions about where I have been and who I’ve been intimate with, whether I’ve ever used hypodermic needle to take unprescribed drugs, whether I’ve gotten a recent tattoo or been in jail, all sorts of stuff.<\/p>\n
I am always a little sad that I can’t say “yes” when they ask if I’ve been to Europe or done something else exotic.\u00a0\u00a0 I’m not so sad to say “no” about having HIV or taken drugs.\u00a0 I guess it is good to be selective about which kinds of exotic you want to participate in.<\/p>\n
Some of the people of the Mennonite group couldn’t donate because they had been on a missions trip to the Caribbean recently.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I decided later that I should have told the rejected Mennonite missions- trippers that they now had their chance to go get that tattoo they’ve always wanted!<\/p>\n
(Well, it seemed funny to me.)<\/p>\n
But, I was probably one of the few people there\u00a0 not connected to the school or the local community .\u00a0 So I did my thing and ate my cinnamon role and kept quiet.<\/p>\n
