{"id":3361,"date":"2013-02-22T19:56:52","date_gmt":"2013-02-23T01:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=3361"},"modified":"2013-02-22T19:56:59","modified_gmt":"2013-02-23T01:56:59","slug":"some-silvertoned-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=3361","title":{"rendered":"Some Silvertone Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: Limerock Road &#8211; 4 miles]<\/p>\n<p>We finally got some real radio sound coming out of that Silvertone console that we&#8217;ve been working\u00a0 on.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the list of things we have fixed, as best as my memory serves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1) new capacitors<\/li>\n<li>2) a few new resistors also<\/li>\n<li>3) rewound the speaker field coil<\/li>\n<li>4) repaired the speaker cone<\/li>\n<li>5) lots of new tubes<\/li>\n<li>6) repaired IF transformer\u00a0 (see picture that shows where we were able to splice the wire back together<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And we still have antenna connections to redo,\u00a0 no knobs yet, no dial yet, a dial lightbulb that needs replaced and a bunch of rubber grommets to replace.<\/p>\n<p>But!\u00a0 We were able to hear radio signals on the thing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?attachment_id=3362\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3362\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3362\" alt=\"Silvertone 455 kHz IF transformer\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/GEDC0446.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?attachment_id=3363\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3363\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3363\" alt=\"Silvertone chassis on the bench\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/GEDC0448.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: Limerock Road &#8211; 4 miles] We finally got some real radio sound coming out of that Silvertone console that we&#8217;ve been working\u00a0 on.
