{"id":3196,"date":"2012-12-17T18:53:27","date_gmt":"2012-12-18T00:53:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=3196"},"modified":"2012-12-17T18:53:27","modified_gmt":"2012-12-18T00:53:27","slug":"fun-with-hw-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=3196","title":{"rendered":"Fun with HW-8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 6 miles &#8211; Schaffer&#8217;s Chapel]<\/p>\n<p>There was a small QRP contest on Sunday evening and I pulled the old HW-8 down off of the shelf.\u00a0 I guess it is my go-to multi-band QRP radio\u00a0 (my _only_ multi-band QRP radio).<\/p>\n<p>I was able to get a few good contacts with the thing.<\/p>\n<p>Then I fired it up again this evening and was able to get the attention of VO2NS in Labrador City, way up north in Canada.\u00a0 According to QRZ.com, that is 1717 miles and I was using about 3 watts.
