{"id":3089,"date":"2012-11-01T11:04:39","date_gmt":"2012-11-01T16:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=3089"},"modified":"2012-11-01T12:05:01","modified_gmt":"2012-11-01T17:05:01","slug":"these-folks-really-dont-like-ronald-reagan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=3089","title":{"rendered":"These folks really don&#8217;t like Ronald Reagan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: rest day]<\/p>\n<p>I was in the local mall bookstore the other day, <a title=\"Books A Million\" href=\"http:\/\/www.booksamillion.com\/\">Books A Million<\/a>, waiting in the checkout line.\u00a0 Like most stores they have some little geegaws at the checkout line for impulse purchases.\u00a0 They have little keychains,\u00a0 reading lights, strange pens\/pencils and a few games.<\/p>\n<p>They have a display of these boxes of little &#8220;busts&#8221;.\u00a0 The display is <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.kidrobot.com\/product-preview-goon-squad-mini-bust-series\/\">Goon Squad: 5 Diabolical Dictators<\/a>.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t see the attraction in that, but ok.<\/p>\n<p>They have one &#8220;Diabolical Dictator&#8221; called &#8220;The Gipper&#8221; and the bust looks like a hip version of Ronald Reagan wearing a wrap-around glasses like <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Geordi_La_Forge\">Giordi on Star Trek: Next Generation<\/a>.\u00a0 They also have fake Lennin, Castro, Kim Jong-il, and Khomeini.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve never put Ronald Reagan in the &#8220;dictator&#8221; class, myself.<\/p>\n<p>And no, they weren&#8217;t selling like hotcakes.<a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?attachment_id=3090\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3090\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3090\" title=\"the gipper\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG00696-20121026-1219-700x525.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG00696-20121026-1219-700x525.jpg 700w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG00696-20121026-1219.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: rest day] I was in the local mall bookstore the other day, Books A Million, waiting in the checkout line.\u00a0 Like most stores they have some little geegaws at the checkout line for impulse purchases.\u00a0 They have little keychains,\u00a0 reading lights, strange pens\/pencils and a few games.
