Iowa State Fair<\/a>.<\/p>\nWhen I was in high school I worked during the summers on a cleaning crew at the state fairgrounds.\u00a0 All summer long we had the place to ourselves, more or less.\u00a0 Then the fair time would come and for 10 days it was a hive of activity, people everywhere.\u00a0 And then it was gone again\u00a0 (and time to get back to school).<\/p>\n
The funny part is, when the fair was actually in progress we didn’t really have much to do.\u00a0 I spent one year assigned to sit on a bench in the Cattle Barn with some other guys.\u00a0 A couple times a day we would sweep the main aisle through the barn.\u00a0 We also would “scoop” up after the cows on that main aisle.\u00a0 Otherwise, just sat and watched people go by.\u00a0 (4-5 times during the fair they would gather up all of us to spend an evening at complete muck-out of one of the barns… so it wasn’t exclusively fun and games.)<\/p>\n
Anyway, I’m looking forward to wandering around, watching 4-H kids show their cows, eating a corn dog, and watching the exhibit bee hive.\u00a0 If I had a week to sit on a bench all day, I might be tempted.<\/p>\n
