{"id":2800,"date":"2012-07-24T20:04:14","date_gmt":"2012-07-25T01:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=2800"},"modified":"2012-07-24T20:04:14","modified_gmt":"2012-07-25T01:04:14","slug":"new-feedline-tried-it-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=2800","title":{"rendered":"New feedline &#8211; tried it out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 5.5 miles &#8211; hot]<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I got together with AD5T, Roger up in Smithville and we did an on-the-air test of my new VHF configuration.\u00a0 It was he that gave me the CATV 75-ohm hardline to try out.<\/p>\n<p>I heard him fine.\u00a0 He said that I&#8217;m a couple of\u00a0 S-units louder than I was before.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a good thing!<\/p>\n<p>Tonight there was a big E-s opening on 2 meters.\u00a0 I saw the big red blob on the APRS map.\u00a0 I also watched the\u00a0 on-line 2-meter chat and lots of guys were making lots of contacts.\u00a0 I heard a few local stations.\u00a0 I got one contact, which was a very good one, n9olt on the shore of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin.\u00a0 That is a _long_ shot for 10 watts on 2 meter sideband.\u00a0 He came in plain as day.\u00a0 But then he was gone.<\/p>\n<p>They tell me the E-s cloud was too close to me.\u00a0 It was up over W.
