We got a letter today from the management of my son’s former apartment denying us any refund of our security deposit.\u00a0 We had been assured by the live-in manager\u00a0 that her husband would get the carpet done easily, and more cheaply than anyone else.<\/p>\n
So now we get this letter complaining about how dirty the apartment was and denying us any of the deposit at all.<\/p>\n
I called the manager and lost my temper a bit.\u00a0 I really didn’t like her telling me that no one had ever vacuumed and no one had done any cleaning, since I participated in those things myself.<\/p>\n
I’ve written a letter to the owner of the complex.\u00a0 I think maybe this manager lady has a scam going.\u00a0 She tells people not to worry about it, then she and her husband probably charge all sorts of hours against the deposit.\u00a0 I can’t prove it, but it sure looks that way to me.<\/p>\n
Anyway, it is unusual for me to do any shouting.\u00a0 I don’t like it.\u00a0 But I’ve actually become less passive about such things as I’ve gotten older.\u00a0 I used to think such things were just an honest mistake.\u00a0 Now I frequently think that\u00a0 some people are out to skin as much as they can.<\/p>\n
I don’t think my shouting did any good.\u00a0 At least, it didn’t make me feel any better.\u00a0 But I calmed down and wrote a letter to the owner (and sent another to the owner’s home address in case the manager intercepts the first one).<\/p>\n
