{"id":2613,"date":"2012-05-20T18:33:52","date_gmt":"2012-05-20T23:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=2613"},"modified":"2012-05-20T18:33:52","modified_gmt":"2012-05-20T23:33:52","slug":"as-close-as-i-get-to-being-a-farmer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=2613","title":{"rendered":"As close as I get to being a farmer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: nothing &#8211; rest day]<\/p>\n<p>We have a little thicket of wild plum trees on our property.\u00a0 It is approximately 20&#8242; x 40&#8242;.\u00a0 I have been working on it slowly, trying to cut back the creeping vines that are strangling the plum trees.\u00a0 I am making slow progress every summer.<\/p>\n<p>In late\u00a0 spring we get a few wild plums.\u00a0 This is our third year.\u00a0 The first year was our best so far.\u00a0 Last year we had a cold rain during the blossom time and hardly got any plums at all.\u00a0 This year we again had rough weather but more plums survived.\u00a0 We ended up with 5 full jars (8 oz) of plum jelly and half a jar.<\/p>\n<p>I am not good at gardening, don&#8217;t even do much to the lawn.\u00a0 But I am ok with walking across the yard and picking plums off the tree.\u00a0 It took about a week for these all to ripen up.\u00a0 I would pick a few, then come back in a couple days and pick a few more.
