Today’s run took us on Williams Road south of Starkville.<\/p>\n

On Williams Road there is a water tower which belongs to a rural water district. On the tower it says, “Talking Warrior Water Association”.<\/p>\n

I had been wondering what ‘talking warrior’ meant.<\/p>\n

The Sunday Columbus Dispatch has a column by the local historian, Rufus Ward.\u00a0 One Sunday last January<\/a>\u00a0 he mentioned a local Choctaw indian of note\u00a0 named Talking Warrior.<\/p>\n

Talking Warrior signed his ‘X’ on a treaty with the United States<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There is also a Talking Warrior Creek\u00a0 in the neighborhood of the water association.<\/p>\n

So now I know a bit about Talking Warrior.<\/p>\n
