[Today’s run: Watson road (3.4 miles)]<\/p>\n
On Easter we are hosting a family get together.\u00a0 The last couple of years we have had a treasure hunt for the Easter baskets for the kids.<\/p>\n
This time I was kind of out of ideas for clues.\u00a0 So I decided to do something a bit different this year. Each kid will have an adult partner, a compass, a 10′ piece of rope (marked every foot), and a 3×5 card with their first clue.\u00a0 The clues will be azimuth (degrees) and distance (feet) to the next clue.\u00a0 After about 6 clues they should find their goodies.<\/p>\n
Today I went to Wal-Mart and bought some cheap compasses.\u00a0 We have some already\u00a0 but I thought I would just see what Wal-Mart had.\u00a0 They were cheap, so I bought them.\u00a0 That way the kids will be able to take theirs home.<\/p>\n
We had fun laying out the waypoints.\u00a0 And, I think we may give a little compass instruction before sending everyone out.\u00a0 But I don’t think it will really be very hard.<\/p>\n
Maybe next year I’ll have to draw up a map and we will try map-reading.\u00a0 But we shall see how this one goes over first.<\/p>\n
