[Today’s run: Silo\u00a0 6.0 miles]<\/p>\n

I bought this pickup truck in December 2009 at an auction.\u00a0 It wasn’t a bad deal.<\/p>\n

Then I put new tires on it.<\/p>\n

Then I put front brakes, rotors and wheel bearings on it.<\/p>\n

Then I put a new exhaust and muffler on it.<\/p>\n

Then the engine went bad and I wrestled with it for awhile then had a guy put a new engine in it.<\/p>\n

Somewhere along the line I bought a seat cover and a dash cover and some windshield wipers and door window moldings to keep the wind from whistling and the windows from rattling.<\/p>\n

Most recently I put in a new brake master cylinder.<\/p>\n

Besides the windshield leaking a bit and the vent\/defrost lever not working quite right…\u00a0 and the air conditioner being out,\u00a0\u00a0 I think it is in pretty good shape now.<\/p>\n

It’s a 1985\u00a0 (but the fuel filter was a 1986, so maybe it was just built in 1985.) It’s a Ford and it has a nice new 302 engine in it.\u00a0 Fuel injected.\u00a0 Gets better mileage than it did when I bought it.\u00a0 I’ve put about 4000 miles on it.<\/p>\n

It is rusty and doesn’t look like much.\u00a0 And I don’t have a key to the door locks.\u00a0 And it sometimes makes an ominous “clunk” in the transmission when downshifting.<\/p>\n

But…. it is paid for.\u00a0 And it has “antique vehicle” license plates\u00a0 so I never have to buy license plates again.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Just put gas in it and keep the insurance up and I can drive.<\/p>\n

And I need to get that turn-signal-canceller thing replaced. That would really be nice.
\nAnd shocks, did I mention that it has all four new shocks?<\/p>\n

It actually drives very nice.\u00a0 I think of myself as Sam Walton going to work at the Walmart.\u00a0 (Except that I’m poor because I spent my money on an old truck . )<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
