[Today’s run: nothing.\u00a0 Yesterday 20×200]<\/p>\n

At the hamfest last weekend I was mostly in sell mode.\u00a0 But I did wander around a bit and ponder the prices of things that I would have liked to have owned but didn’t want to peel off $$ for.<\/p>\n

One table was a couple of guys from the Vicksburg area and they had a number of interesting items.\u00a0 I passed on the rusty Heathkit DX-100.\u00a0 But I did bring home a partially completed receiver.<\/p>\n

I took some pictures and posted questions on the eham.net<\/a> boatanchors list.\u00a0 Some experts quickly filled me in on what I had.<\/p>\n

It appears that someone attempted to make a receiver from junkbox parts using the general scheme of the ARC-5 WWII military receivers.\u00a0 But it doesn’t work.\u00a0 I think the LO is dead.<\/p>\n

So now I have another project.\u00a0 I can either strip it out for parts or try to fix it up, or almost anything in between.\u00a0 Having a power supply, tube sockets and IF cans already in place makes it kind of attractive for a project attempt of my own.\u00a0 We shall see.<\/p>\n

But, for $5 I confirmed that I’m not the only person in the world who starts projects and does not finish them.\u00a0 That is some comfort in itself, probably worth the money.<\/p>\n
