{"id":2062,"date":"2012-01-17T13:43:45","date_gmt":"2012-01-17T19:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=2062"},"modified":"2012-01-17T13:43:45","modified_gmt":"2012-01-17T19:43:45","slug":"dxing-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=2062","title":{"rendered":"DXing again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 4 miles]<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been doing some DXing again.\u00a0 This morning I got through to 4w0vb in Timor.\u00a0 He was coming through loudly on the 20 meter band.<\/p>\n<p>Timor is a long way from here.\u00a0 It is just about the opposite side of the globe. The shortest route from here is at 300 degrees\u00a0 (northwest).\u00a0 I was pointing my antenna toward the southeast.\u00a0 So I was on the &#8220;long path&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He was coming in very clearly.\u00a0 I first thought he was a station in the Caribbean.\u00a0 He very rarely transmitted his callsign which made it kind of frustrating.\u00a0 I looked on one of the DX spot websites (where people post recent DX contacts) and was able to figure out who he was.\u00a0 Later he sent his callsign and I confirmed it.\u00a0 I was intently listening and didn&#8217;t actually attempt the contact until after he started to fade.\u00a0 But he heard me ok.<\/p>\n<p>DX contacts listed on my current log sheet:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>oh6ct (finland)<\/li>\n<li>jm7olw (japan)<\/li>\n<li>pj4c (bonaire)<\/li>\n<li>kh2\/n2nl (guam)<\/li>\n<li>lu4fd (argentina)<\/li>\n<li>fm5bh (martinique)<\/li>\n<li>uw5zo (ukraine)<\/li>\n<li>vk2dx and vk4wtn (australia)<\/li>\n<li>ei4kf (ireland)<\/li>\n<li>hb9ccl (switzerland)<\/li>\n<li>s52zw (poland)<\/li>\n<li>4w0vb (timor &#8211; leste)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 4 miles] I&#8217;ve been doing some DXing again.\u00a0 This morning I got through to 4w0vb in Timor.\u00a0 He was coming through loudly on the 20 meter band.
