Picture today is of an employee award I received while working at Intellistor\/Fujitsu(FCPA)\u00a0 in 1998 (?).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I worked at Intellistor for a couple of years and I received this award toward the end of that time.<\/p>\n

I think I did a pretty good job while I was there, no great shakes, but I got things done that were assigned to me.<\/p>\n

I don’t really remember why they gave me this award.\u00a0 It was a monthly thing, kind of “employee of the month”.\u00a0 But I don’t remember if there was some specific thing I did that was deemed to be exceptional.<\/p>\n

The old saying goes, “Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched.”\u00a0 I think I might amend that to be, “Don’t count your chickens before they are fried and on your plate.”<\/p>\n

You never can tell what is going to happen.\u00a0 Well, maybe you can, but I sure can’t.\u00a0 Within a few weeks of getting this I was out the door and looking for a different job.<\/p>\n

The economy in Japan had a downturn and the management of Fujitsu decided to put less money into R&D.\u00a0 So, there were layoffs.\u00a0 And eventually Intellistor closed.\u00a0 I was kind of a 5th wheel in the IT department and ended up going early in the layoffs.\u00a0 I don’t hold a grudge or anything, it was logical that the more core-function people be kept.\u00a0 My boss was easy to work for and did a good job in the layoff process.\u00a0 (I expect it was hard on him, but I didn’t think about that at the time.)\u00a0 After a few more months the whole place was gone anyway.<\/p>\n

Within a month I had a better job, the job I still have, am glad to have.<\/p>\n
