We’ve been watching Emergency in the evenings on Hulu on my laptop.<\/p>\n
We just started season 3 and they changed all of the theme music.\u00a0 They also now have some really annoying music they play as background while the paramedics are doing their rescue thing.<\/p>\n
There sure was a big change in emergency medicine procedures and facilities between the late ’60s and the mid-’70s.\u00a0 We watched a bunch of Adam-12 earlier this fall.\u00a0 Their version of an ambulance was some policemen in a hearse-like vehicle.\u00a0 Now, by season 3 of Emergency we have the cube-on-wheels style of ambulances, firemen\/paramedics, a real emergency room at the hospital, etc.<\/p>\n
Of course it could be that some of the difference is because of the amount of effort that the television show producers went to in being realistic.<\/p>\n
On Emergency they have a lot of heart attacks.\u00a0 They really don’t do much for the victims except keep them alive until the attack is over.\u00a0 They have defibrillators and they do some catheterization scenes.\u00a0 No balloons, no talk of heart surgery.<\/p>\n
I’ve been to AED training, and CPR.\u00a0 So I could do some of that fun stuff myself if given the opportunity.\u00a0 No hurry though.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
