{"id":1678,"date":"2011-10-31T18:07:11","date_gmt":"2011-10-31T23:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=1678"},"modified":"2011-10-31T18:07:11","modified_gmt":"2011-10-31T23:07:11","slug":"gpsdo-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=1678","title":{"rendered":"GPSDO &#8211; progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: rest day]<\/p>\n<p>I made a bit more progress on the GPS-DO.\u00a0 I now have the first chain of the power supply working.<\/p>\n<p>The power switch works.\u00a0 The rectifier and filter capacitor are doing the job.\u00a0 I have 24 volts going to the crystal oven.\u00a0 I used the ripple calculations in EMRFD and the ripple was about 10% until the oven gets warmed up and drops the current.\u00a0 Then things flatten out nicely.<\/p>\n<p>I have a bunch of boards to mount in my chassis.\u00a0 And I have to wire the various parts together.\u00a0 This is always a difficult step in any project I tackle.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t have a large collection of connectors so I end up using a lot of point-to-point wiring and it usually looks nasty.\u00a0 I&#8217;m thinking about putting in a couple of terminal strips for the various voltage levels.<\/p>\n<p>But I haven&#8217;t broken anything yet, that I know of.\u00a0 So keep moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>Today I also reviewed the ARRL VE information.\u00a0 I&#8217;m supposed to help at a test on Saturday.\u00a0 I signed up as a VE long ago and have never used my certification.\u00a0 So I figured I had better do a review.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: rest day] I made a bit more progress on the GPS-DO.\u00a0 I now have the first chain of the power supply working.
