{"id":1610,"date":"2011-10-21T20:23:18","date_gmt":"2011-10-22T01:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=1610"},"modified":"2011-10-21T20:24:52","modified_gmt":"2011-10-22T01:24:52","slug":"perspective","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=1610","title":{"rendered":"Perspective"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[today&#8217;s run: none]<\/p>\n<p>I recently heard a story on the radio about babies using iPods and such things.\u00a0 It had me thinking about our perception tools.<\/p>\n<p>In college I learned about how to make perspective drawings.\u00a0 Those are drawings on flat paper that give the illusion of three dimensions.\u00a0 They use visual cues like converging parallel lines, scale of near vs. far objects, shading and shadowing.<\/p>\n<p>But what they don&#8217;t do is require refocusing your eyes.\u00a0 So if you were given a life-sized perspective drawing you might notice that everything is in the same physical distance and your eyes don&#8217;t have to focus near and far.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know about you, but I don&#8217;t think I am very perceptive of when my eyes are focusing near and far except when I&#8217;m too close for my bi-focals.<\/p>\n<p>So I was just wondering about those babies and their iPods.\u00a0 Not much exercise for the old eye-focuser muscles.\u00a0 Not that it is a new problem.\u00a0 Kids have been parking in front of the television since I was a pup.\u00a0 In my day the TV was across the room.\u00a0 Now they&#8217;ve got it at the end of their arm.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-1611\" href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?attachment_id=1611\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1611\" title=\"longmont city hall number two\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMG00515-20111016-1156-700x933.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMG00515-20111016-1156-700x933.jpg 700w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMG00515-20111016-1156.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[today&#8217;s run: none] I recently heard a story on the radio about babies using iPods and such things.\u00a0 It had me thinking about our perception tools.
