I remember her a different day
\n[before the angry, pierced and painted]
\nstanding in the snow, her broken sled
\nat our feet; cracked wood and bent runner.
\nBruised, as I was, from our unexpected flight.<\/p>\n

A famous tubing run we’d never tried
\nand gift sleds to herself and brother
\nfrom the kindly older man next door.
\nDad with daughter, mom with son, new snow
\nand a big hill with an unexpected bump.<\/p>\n

Flying! Crash! (keep it straight!) A groaning stop.
\nSee mom and brother still up the hill,
\n“Don’t do it Mom!”, she shouted in vain.
\nWe all limped to the car and went home,
\nstowed broken sleds and\u00a0 mourned an unexpected loss:<\/p>\n
